SAM.gov Integration with Flow and External Service

Overview

Provides a no-code integration with SAM.gov for querying and retrieving verified entity information.

The Salesforce Platform provides native capabilities for calling external data sources through the use of External Services. These services, once configured, can be consumed throughout the rest of the platform such as via Apex as well as through Flow. Using no-code capabilities, this Accelerator provides the External Service for calling the System for Award Management (SAM.gov) Entity Management API with an example of how you can search for an entity via CAGE Code and consume the response using Salesforce Flow.

Key features and benefits of this Accelerator include:

Effortless Data Integration

  • No-code solution: Utilize Salesforce’s native capabilities to call SAM.gov without writing or maintaining a single line of code. This Accelerator uses External Services to seamlessly connect with the Entity Management API giving you on demand access to verified authoritative information.
  • Plug-and-play: Designed for easy installation, maintenance, and reusability in mind, this Accelerator allows you to quickly integrate data from SAM.gov into nearly any of your process workflows—be it custom code or Salesforce Flow.

Enhanced Operational Efficiency

  • Automated data entry: Reduce manual data entry errors and save time by automatically populating fields based on authoritative SAM.gov data. For example, partners can enter their Unique Entity Id or CAGE Code when filling out a signup form and instantly retrieve and fill in their verification status, date, address information, legal business name, and more.
  • Streamlined processes: Use this Accelerator to automate data validation and updates—on record-save or through scheduled jobs—ensuring your records are always accurate and up-to-date.

Compliance and Security

  • Secure access: Grant access to the SAM.gov Entity Management API through a Permission Set, ensuring only authorized users can make callouts.
  • API key management: Store and manage your API key securely using a Custom Metadata Type record avoiding hard-coded values, enabling more granular access control, and simplifying maintenance when it’s time to rotate your API key.

Versatility

  • Extensibility: Comes preconfigured with some of the most common query parameters included in the External Service, but can easily be modified to add additional optional parameters such as NAICS codes, or business type without having to modify a single line of code.

Whether initially vetting potential grant recipients, as part of continual data validation of your existing vendor landscape, or searching for new partners to work with, there are numerous uses for integrating data from SAM.gov into your Salesforce applications. This Accelerator can help you get up and running quickly with out of the box configurations and educational information and resources on how to implement External Services in your org.
